About Me

I'm Shao Yuan Chew Chia (he/him), a 1st year PhD student at MIT CSAIL , advised by Prof. Russ Tedrake .

My research interests lie in planning and control for robotic systems, and touches areas such as optimization, graph search, integrated task and motion planning, machine learning and contact-rich manipulation.

I greatly enjoy making things (e.g., furniture, art, robots, vehicles, software), learning things, and watching YouTube videos. Most things I do involve all three.

I grew up in Singapore, worked on a fish farm, did two years of National Service, did two years of college at Harvard, spent 3 years working on a startup, returned to Harvard to finish my undergrad degree and then started my PhD at MIT.
